Womens Voluntary Meet & Hike

If I have time during the week, I love to Hike locally, in particular around the Miura Peninsula or Kanagawa area. As part of my commitment to supporting others to enjoy and reconnect with nature, I voluntarily organize regular hike along one of these Trails.

The Trails are usually easy / beginner level, keeping them accessible for people who might be new to hiking.

These hikes are run on a volunteer basis, and I invite you to join me, try something new and reconnect to nature!

December Schedule:

Friday 9th December- Mount Aso – Hinode – Tsuru Tsuru Onsen.

The Route:

Although I have not hiked this route before, I believe it to be considered a moderately challenging hike. Suitable for beginners, with some hiking experience and a good level of fitness.

This trail is 9.7km and makes an elevation gain of 712m. The main ascent is roughly 500m over 3km so its a steady incline but not too steep.

Here is the link to the alltrails route outline.

The route is a maintained hiking trail, but is not pathed, instead taking a forest route. Underfoot is a mixture of soil, tree roots, gravel and some decked sections.

The hiking trail starts at Shirawataki Bus Stop and takes a route up to Mount Aso, continuing to Mount Hidone via Shiroiwantaki Falls.

The Peak of Mount Hidone offer views across the Kanto Plain, over to Mount Mitake. From here we descend to Tsuru Tsuru Onsen, where you can either depart or linger and enjoy onsen bath.

Hiking shoes are recommended, but supportive trail trainers with a good grip will be ok, if this is what you are used to hiking in.

Timing & Meet Point:

We will depart from the trail head (Shirawataki Bus Stop) at 9:30am (meet point TBC).

If you wish to ride with me by car I can collect at Ishikawacho station at 7:00am and request a Y2,500 travel contribution for this ride. Please contact me to arrange this.

At a steady pace (e.g. 1km/20mins), this hike should take roughly 4.5-5hour plus 1 hour for lunch.

Therefore, please allow 6 hours for the hike and a possible extra hour for onsen at the end.

If you have any questions about the hike please do email me.

You can register here and details of meet location will be sent out closer to the date.

Jan – Feb 2023 Schedule

Wednesday 25th January – Maedabashi-Mount Ogusu Trail.

This is a local trail on the Miura Penninula and is suitable for beginners.

The Trail should take only a 3 -4 hours to complete. Therefore if you have kids this should easily fit in-between school runs!
